Binaural Beats
Isochronic Tones
Solfeggio Frequencies
Subliminal Affirmations

Binaural Beats

When slightly different frequencies are played in each ear through headphones, the brain perceives a third tone — the "binaural beat." This phenomenon has been studied in relation to relaxation, focus, and meditation.

Research suggests:

  • Delta waves (1-4 Hz) may support deep sleep and restoration
  • Theta waves (4-8 Hz) are associated with meditation and creativity
  • Alpha waves (8-13 Hz) may promote calm, relaxed awareness
  • Beta waves (13-30 Hz) are linked to focus and alertness

While not a universal solution, many people report subjective benefits when incorporating binaural beats into their meditation practice.

Isochronic Tones

Isochronic tones use evenly spaced pulses of sound to create a rhythmic stimulation. Unlike binaural beats, they do not require headphones and are perceived as a single pulsing tone.

Some research indicates that isochronic tones may influence brainwave activity similarly to binaural beats, though studies are still emerging. Users often combine them with ambient sounds to create calming or focusing environments.

Solfeggio Frequencies

Solfeggio frequencies are specific tones (such as 396 Hz, 528 Hz, and 639 Hz) that are said to promote healing, balance, and well-being. Their origins trace back to ancient chants and musical scales.

While scientific validation is limited, many practitioners incorporate these frequencies into meditation and sound healing practices. We include them as an exploratory tool for those drawn to vibrational and tonal meditation.

Subliminal Affirmations

Subliminal affirmations are positive statements delivered beneath the threshold of conscious awareness. The concept is that repeated exposure may influence subconscious beliefs and patterns over time.

Research on subliminal messaging has mixed results. While effects may be subtle, some users find value in combining affirmations with meditation to reinforce intentions and cultivate positive mindsets.

explore Our Approach

At Inner·Wave, we work with sound as a supportive element — not as a promise. Some methods are backed by decades of research. Others remain areas of exploration.

We encourage you to approach your experience with curiosity rather than expectation. Pay attention to how you feel. Use what supports you.

Frequently Asked

Do I need headphones?

+

Headphones are required for binaural beats, as they work by playing slightly different frequencies in each ear. For isochronic tones and general meditation, headphones are recommended but not required.

Is Inner·Wave free?

+

Yes — the free tier includes a set of presets and the core layering tools, with sessions up to thirty minutes. Pro unlocks longer sessions, Audio Mode, the creation studio for your own sounds and scripts, and more.

Can I fall asleep to my own podcast or audiobook?

+

Yes. With Wind Down, keep listening to whatever you like and let Inner·Wave ease in for the rest of the night. Audio Mode lets you choose how it plays alongside your other audio — take over, mix on top, or wind down gradually.

Can I create my own meditations?

+

Yes! You can build custom presets by choosing your own combination of sounds, guidance audio, frequencies, and cover images. You can even create guiding audio from your own text using the built-in TTS feature.

Is this a replacement for therapy?

+

No. Inner·Wave is a wellness tool designed to support relaxation and mindfulness. It is not a substitute for medical or psychological care. If you are experiencing mental health challenges, please consult a qualified professional.

What is the Wish Exchange?

+

After a meditation session, you can send an anonymous wish of kindness to another meditator. The wish reaches one person, then disappears. It's a simple way to feel connected through your practice.

How do I get started?

+

Download the app, tap "Quick Start" on the home screen, or browse the Presets library to find a meditation that resonates with you. We recommend starting with the Introduction preset.
